The Psycho Cirkus Freefly Xtravaganza was held at Lake Elsinore, CA over March 2-5, 2000. It was a pretty cool time, and we got to see a lot of old friends and make a ton of new ones! Robert, Heath and Larry from the Cirkus were great and made everyone feel welcome for their event.
There was a little problem, however... RAIN! We can empathize. Our buddy Shane McGroar from Team Shocker showed up from Skydive Orange and pointed out that "Except for the Monkey Claw Jam, this was the best rained-out festival I've ever been to!" I think our test-tube shooters won him over! Luckily for everyone, only part of the reason to go to a festival is to jump. We had a great time hangin' with the rest of the crew out there and meeting all kinds of new and interesting people. That's not to say we didn't jump at all. The first day and a half were pretty good, and we made several jumps with the locals and visitors from all over the country. We were blessed by the presence of several Skydive Orange jumpers, including Shane, Nancy, and Jim. We also met up with Storm and Jen from AZ and some of the other guys who came out with them like Jason, Craig (the dude with the yellow helmet in "Jackass!"), Lisa, Orly King and several others. Several people came down from the Byron area like Evan, Chris, and more. There were a lot of locals hanging out with the crew. A new team out there called The Nitwitz made up of DJ Marvin (yeah, like that's his REAL name!) and Erik Piazza showed us around the area and kept us entertained during a lot of the slower times. Some of the other locals that came down were Ray, Christina, Billy Calhoun, Brad ("Bradstyle"), Fritz Pfnur, Jeff, John Feeny, and so many more we can't mention them all! Thanks everyone for making the easterners feel welcome out in "sunny" southern cal! Another special treat was the opportunity to see Speedcurve Production's latest video Freefly Millennium 2: Liquid Sky. This is an awesome video with great freeflying and editing by Tim Koranda and Andy Staich. It also has some interviews with a lot of great freeflyers and video from the Space Games. If you look closely you can even see the Monkeys in there! To order the vid directly call them at (310)921-2220, or you can probably order it from your local gear dealer. It's Definitely recommended! We have a pictures page from some of the cool jumps we did out there. There were lots of tubes that were a ton of fun, and some bigger ways, smaller ways, flocking and tracking. There was also a great swoop contest through their new and very intimidating pond. Nobody swam too much, but a lot of people held back a bit due to the steep sides and depth! Enjoy the pics, and we hope to see you all out here for the Jams this year!
